COURSE OBJECTIVES

After participating in this activity, learners will be able to:

  1. describe Human Papillomavirus, current infection rates, the few features acute infection, and the role of persistent HPV infection in cancers.
  2. articulate the current Centers for Disease Control and Prevention – Advisory Committee on Immunization recommendations on Human Papillomavirus Vaccination to parents and young adults
  3. provide the communication skills needed to positively discuss common HPV and HPV vaccination issues  in a proactive manner with parents or young adults to promote vaccination

PROGRAM PURPOSE

The course is designed to help healthcare providers understand the current state of HPV persistent infection diseases and for the healthcare providers to practice in a safe non-judgmental environment having difficult conversations with parents and young adults to promote vaccination.

TARGET AUDIENCE

The target audience for this activity includes physicians, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, nurses, pharmacists, residents, fellows, medical students and other healthcare providers.

CME ACCREDITATION AND CREDIT DESIGNATION

Louisiana State University Health Shreveport, School of Medicine is accredited by ACCME to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

Louisiana State University Health Shreveport, School of Medicine designates this live activity for a maximum of 5.5 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s)™. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

NURSING ACCREDITATION

5.5 contact hours of continuing education credit will be awarded to Registered Nurses upon successful completion of this offering.

University Health Shreveport is an approved provider of continuing education by the South Central Accreditation Program, an accredited approver by the American Nurses credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation.

PHARMACY ACCREDITATION
